Costumes for Large Dogs I’d Recommend
Big Dog’s Wonder Woman Costume
Product: Big Dog’s Wonder Woman Costume by Rubie’s
Price: Check Prices at Amazon
Rating at Amazon: 4.4 out of 5 (*according to 29 customer reviews )
Size: 2x (XXXL also available)
Costume includes both the dress and headpiece as shown. Dress is made of a stretchy, yet durable fabric, not plastic like many other costumes out there.
Velcro closures make it easy to dress and undress your dog. Plus, according to other customers, if you follow the sizing guide given by Rubie’s, the fit should work for your dog. There are sizes 2x and XXXL to choose from in this beautiful super hero costume.
Suggested for breeds such as Pit Bulls, Labrador Retrievers, and Springer Spaniels. According to other dog owners it has worked well for their dogs: German Shepherd, Siberian Husky, Black Lab, Cane Corso in the 2x size.
The XXXL one worked well for an owner of a Pit/Mastiff mix.
I couldn’t really find too much about any drawbacks to this costume for large dogs. About the only thing I found was to make sure you measure your dog as it instructs before ordering and choose the size: 2x or XXXL. Otherwise, it may be rather “snug” on your dog.
Why Do I Recommend This Costume?
Well, I recommend this Wonder Woman Costume for large dogs since I think it looks very cute for one thing. Another is after reading what other customers had to say about it, I think it’d be well worth the money. Rubie’s has been a great supplier of costumes for not only dogs, but people as well for quite some time.
Plus, at the price, this dog costume isn’t that expensive that it would break the bank!

Big Dogs Superman Dog Costume
Product: Big Dogs Superman Dog Costume by Rubies
Price: Check Prices at Amazon
Rating at Amazon: 4.1 out of 5 stars (*according to 12 customer reviews at time of this writing)
Size: 2X (XXXL also available)
Costume includes chest piece, cape and belt. Most customers stated it seemed to be made of good quality material and was super cute on their dogs. Velcro closures and easy to put on your dog.
Suggested for these breeds: Labrador Retrievers, Pit Bulls, and Springer Spaniels. According to dog owners who tried this costume on their dogs and it worked well for: an 80-pound Australian Cattle Dog (2x), German Shepherd/Doberman Pincher mix (XXXL), Akita (XXXL), 7-month old English Mastiff (XXXL)
A few cons that I noticed throughout the reviews on Amazon were that some customers were saying it was snug or didn’t fit their dog…that it runs on the somewhat smaller side, especially for dogs that have wide chests or are rather “thick” in the chest/stomach area.
One stated it wouldn’t stay on and ended up using safety pins to keep it closed. Another negative aspect is a couple of dog owners had problems with it being a bit too long and had to shorten it a bit for it to work well if their dog had to go potty. Others had no problems with it however.
My thoughts after going through what others said about this costume is that it’ll most likely fit (XXXL size) on a dog 90-105 pounds, but it may be pretty snug if they’re a bit errrr, fluffy….chunky or wide in the chest/stomach.
A 2X worked well for an Australian Cattle Dog at 80 pounds – these dogs aren’t usually too large in the stomach area, but a bit broad around the chest…just to give you and idea. I know, because my brother was the proud parent of an Australian Cattle Dog for many years. Another thing to mention is they are short-haired dogs.
So, remember if your dog has long, fluffy fur, it’ll make it a tighter fit as well. Be sure to measure your dog and choose the size: either 2x or XXXL, whichever you think would fit the best depending on things such as how big your dog is in the chest/stomach and also how much fur is going to be affecting the fit.
I’d recommend this costume for the average sized Large dog, as I think this costume would work well for dogs that aren’t too fluffy…
okay already! I’ll say it...fat!

Size: One size – fits medium to large dogs with neck sizes between 60-80 cm
Color: White with ears
Other Color Options: Brown Lion Mane with ears & Dark Brown Lion Mane with ears
(Shown Below; options without ears available in ALL colors as well)
Lion mane costume can be adjusted to fit using the adjustable elastic band which goes comfortably around the dogs head. Costume shown here comes with ears as well, but there are also other options you can choose from which includes a white lion mane with no ears.
Other colors available: Dark brown & brown. These are also available with ears or without…depending on what you prefer.
According to the reviews there, the majority of people that bought this for their dog were very happy with this costume. “Looked so cute on my dog” is said many times throughout the reviews I checked out.
The lion mane costume is made of durable material; faux fur and polyester and is easy to clean since it’s washable. Must be air dried though, so just hang it up to dry. Inside of wig is lined with an orange, somewhat slippery material for added warmth and comfort.
Very few that I could find…however, some dogs didn’t like wearing it at all and kept pulling it off using their paws. One customer also stated that it was not usable since the drawstring was sewn shut, so it had to be returned.
This is definitely a costume that I’d recommend since it appears that very few that already purchased it for their dog had any problem with it and are in fact, quite happy with their Lion Mane costume! Plus, since you can also choose from other colors and ear options that is another bonus in my book…

Creepy but cute spider costume for dogs is sure to get attention and maybe even a few screams this Halloween, lol!
Straps with Velcro closures on head and belly area. The fuzzy legs of this spider costume are constructed of bendable wire on the inside, so you can pose them in the direction you’d like.
Fuzzy, hair like material makes the costume look quite spidery….many customers thought their dogs looked adorable dressed up as a tarantula and running around the house in this costume.
Unfortunately, there were a few drawbacks to this dog costume. The biggest issue I noticed as I read the reviews of others that have already bought this, was the sizing…
According to what other customers said about this costume, it runs rather small!
When ordering this for your dog, make sure to measure your dog’s size first!

Casual Canines Lobster Paws Dog Costumes
Product: Casual Canines Lobster Paws Dog Costumes by Casual Canines

Rating at Amazon: 4.3 out of 5 (*according to 102 customer reviews at time of this writing)
Size: X-Large; 24-inch length; (sizes available: XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL)
X-Large size fits doberman pinscher, german shepherd, golden retriever, labrador retriever, rottweiler breeds.
Large size recommended for: Brittany spaniels, bulldogs, collies, schnauzers, and Springer Spaniel breeds.
This very affordable costume is made of soft and durable polyester. Costume is easy to put on with Velcro closures that go around dog’s belly. Adorable costume according to many of the dog owners that have tried this on their dogs.
The thing that stood out the most as something to be aware of with this Lobster costume is the size. I noticed quite a few stating it was too snug when ordering the actual Large size. Which is why I’m using size X-large here for large dogs.
After all, you’d assume size large would fit dogs that are well…large!
Like the labs, retrievers, huskies, German shepherds, etc. But, that isn’t always the case. So, if you’re thinking of ordering this one for your dog please, take the time to actually….
How to Measure your Dog’s Length
Measure your dog’s length from the neck to the base of its tail. The size XL is recommended for 24-inch length, but some still stated it didn’t fit their dog properly. Another thing I’d recommend is to consider your dog’s build and the amount of fur as well…if your dog has a really wide chest area, is really furry, or is in between the size recommendations….you might want to consider ordering a size up!
A Note About Sizing*
** I’d actually recommend that for any costume you’re thinking of buying for your dog….measure your dog first, keep in mind how wide your dog is or not, and if the measurements land in between two sizes…choose the larger one of the two. **
Sizing info for the Lobster Costume:
I also hope this sizing info I found listed there under the small size of this costume may be of some help in choosing the correct size if you’re ordering this Lobster costume for your dog:
SIZE BACK NECK CHEST
Small: 8-12″ 12-15″ 14-22″
Medium: 12-16″ 16-19″ 19-24″
Large: 16-20″ 17-22″ 22-31″
X-Large: 20-24″ 19-24″* 25-34″*
*Please note: Neck and chest measurements were NOT available for X-large…these are my best estimates of what they’d likely be approximate to basing it off of the sizes that did have measurements listed. So, they may not be exactly accurate…they’re only estimations. So, use your own judgment!*
Recommended sizing by breed:

These Costumes are really funny???. I’m wondering which one to get and how my puppy will look in that costume.
Thanks for stopping by and yeah, these costumes would look so cute and funny on any dog I’d think. What kind of puppy do you have? A large breed or small?
Sometimes that might help narrow it down. Or, maybe something about their personality or actions they usually do would give you an idea on which one to pick as well.
I’d love to hear which one you decide on for your puppy and how it looks once you do choose one.
Best wishes ~ Sherry
